About the Staff

	Dr. Sandra L. Miles: Dr. Miles graduated from the University of Indianapolis in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. After working for 3 years as a research biochemist, she decided that she wanted to dedicate a career creating “pretty smiles.” So in 1988, dental school began at Indiana University School of Dentistry and there hasn't been any looking back. After the birth of twins in 1991, she continued to work hard at her dental school studies and clinical work. She graduated in May of 1992, just before moving to North Carolina to take the state dental boards. She received her license in June of 1992 and began practicing the “art” of dentistry. She opened her own practice in 1996 at the current location on the corner of 16th and Market Street. Her staff, along with herself have strived, from the onset of the dental practice, to commit themselves to offer only the highest quality service using the most up-to-date equipment and techniques for their patients. The experience of your dental visit will assure that you acheive confidence and satisfaction in our practice. We all look forward to seeing you soon for all of your concerns and dental needs.
	Olivia Dorroll, RDH: Olivia joined our office as a part time hygienist in October of 2004, and has been full time with us since December of the same year. She graduated from Coastal Community College Dental Hygiene in June of 2004. Through her youthful enthusiasm, she has brought a bright attitude to the office that our patients and staff appreciate. She is a motivated person and loves working with her patients. She is eager to educate her patients and answer any of the questions they may have about the most up to date modern dental techniques available to them. Her patients are thrilled with her gentle touch and thorough treatment. She is an avid runner and has done a number of 1/2 marathons. She ran in her first full marathon in June 2005. She also enjoys riding bikes and lifting weights at the gym. When she is not working out, she can be found shopping at any of the many choices of local stores in our ever-growing city. She was married in May 2006 and they are busy with their new home. We couldn't be happier for both of them. They are both busy with their careers, but not too busy to care for their three cats.
	Jamene Partin, RDH: Jamene grew up in Rocky Mount, North Carolina but prefers the beaches of Wilmington. A 1968 Graduate from UNC-Chapel Hill, she is a tenured hygienist with over 25 years of experience in the field of dental hygiene. She took a few years off to raise 4 children and has been with the “Smiles” team for since January, 2001. Jamene works in our office Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday each week. She enjoys the beach, like most of us living here at the coast. She enjoys her “long, little doggie“ (a Dachshund), and she loves working with our team. She has been enjoying her grandson every chance she gets, and now is eagerly awaiting the arrival of her new twin grandsons. She is a great educator for her patients, and continually strives to “bring them around” to her way of thinking. They eventually do, and they understand that her training and expertize are well worth it. She is zealous and will definitely help you realize the importance of oral health. Her family of patients never want to see anyone else. The changes can be phenomenal.
	Susan Grant, CDA: Susan came on board with us in January 2007. She has had almost 10 years of assisting and dental office experience. She is a North Carolina native and she and her husband, John, enjoy Wilmington's climate and all the amenities of the beach. Their dog, Nilla, and two cats keep them busy and happy. Her care and concern are evident in all of the things that she does. She brings this positive energy forward to her patients with the education and treatment that she offers. She has never met a stranger and she looks at every day as an adventure, utilizing her energy to bring out the best for her dental patients. She has completed training for CEREC and is always eager to learn and expand her skills. She completed her state exam for dental assistant certification in October 2007. We are all proud of her accomplishment in advancing in her career. As a team, we couldn't be complete with Susan's vibrant smile and constant happy attitude.
	Joanie Eschert, CDA: Joanie came to our team in July 2007. She has been enjoying her career as a dental assistant for 13 years. She is originally from New Jersey where she received her formal education in dental assisting. She has lived in Wilmington since she graduated in 1994 and is married to Bill, the love of her life. She has enjoyed the transition from her long time employment with her previous dentist to our office. She is eager to utilize her skills to help our patient family obtain the best quality dentistry available. Her enthusiasm transcends to those around her, and her genuine concern helps to make her patients feel comfortable and assured during their visits. We all look forward to having her with us for many years to come. In addition to being a phenomenal dental assistant, she loves to read, cook, and enjoy chocolate any chance she gets.
	Tracy Coleman, Office Staff: Tracy has worked with me since early 2003. She and her husband have a young boy,Bryce, born in March of 2004. She enjoys spending her free time at the beach, on the boat with her husband and son. Tracy came to our team with no dental experience, but has been eager to learn all she can about our exciting profession. Her youthful eagerness shows daily in our office. She greets our patients with warmth and kindness on the phone and when they enter our office. She is a team player and always ready to take on a new task. We have seen her learn about the dental field and enjoy the excitement of the day to day dealings with our patients and with our team.
	Susan McDonald, Office Staff: Susan joined my staff as an office administrator in mid-2003. Prior to this position, she owned and operated a gift and antique store here in Wilmington. She is originally from New Jersey where she met her husband Walt. She enjoys spending free time with her husband and dogs. She has become a new grandma of a bubbling baby girl who lives in California. Susan also came to our team with no dental experience. However, her business organizational abilities and her genuine kindness to everyone are attributes that show each day in our office. She will greet you with a smile and will be more than willing to help with any questions you may have. She is a team player and is willing to develop more efficient policies for helping our patients.
